what do emotion and promotion have to do with motion?

Emotion moves your feelings. Promotion moves you to a higher level.
Laurie | Feb 02, 2010

Motion is the essence of living. Without motion we’d be an inanimate object without emotion or (self) promotion. Let me change the words around. I’d say what do "passion" and "confidence" have to do with "action"?

Emotion gives you direction, promotion gives you courage to act on that emotion, and motion is making it possible.

Thus without emotion and promotion, there would be no motion.
rplayer64 | Feb 02, 2010

How these words were arrived at I’m not completely sure but a good dictionary would outline their roots. E Motion might indicate a movement within one’s mind or spirit and Pro Motion does indicate upward movement. Motion indicates movement, so they are thus tied.
TN Seeker | Feb 02, 2010

emotion is a motion in your head where you start to fell emotional so your moving to a different emotion so that’s motion in emotion.

promotion is where your moving up the corporate ladder, moving to a better job, pay, salary and usually working space, and that’s the motion in emotion and promotion.

Plot: A late night airport shuttle ride home descends into darkness.

Shuttle

Directors: Anderson Edward

Actors: Curran Tony,Douglas Cullen,Kemp Tom,Power Dave,Ryen James,Shea Skip,Snyder James,Souza Roy,Thriller,

Do you think I'm being selfish?
About a month ago, my brother asked me if I wanted to go with him to Florida for 10 days to see the Daytona 500 and watch the Space Shuttle launch. I told him straight up I really wasn’t interested in going. I’m not interested in NASCAR at all, and I feel I would pretty much be bored the whole trip. He made plans to go on the trip anyway, and the plan was set for him to go with his friend James. Now today, 3 days before the trip, my brother thinks his friend won’t go with him because of a long story which I don’t actually know all of. He said he wants me to come with him but I was honest again and told him I really don’t want to go.

He called me selfish because I wouldn’t go with him… is he right? I feel he’s trying to guilt trip me. I really do feel bad that he made plans and bought tickets, but is it my fault his plans fell apart? I told him from the get go I had no interest in going.

Totally.

Your brother sounds like a drama queen. There’s nothing wrong with you not wanting to go on this trip.
Jabba | Feb 02, 2010

I don’t think so.
If you don’t like someting, then you just don’t.
You can’t just force someone to do something they don’t want to do.
I think your brother is being the selfish one.
He should understand if you polietly declined
KatieGirl(: | Feb 02, 2010

Your not being selfish. But, hey, free trip to Florida! Think of all the tings you could do there… Personally, Although I couldn’t care less about NASCAR, I would go!
Lily Evans | Feb 02, 2010

You are selfish! I wasted precious seconds of my life reading that!!
?AllyKat ? | Feb 02, 2010

If he already bought the tickets, and is not making you pay for anything then why not go? If he expects you to pay then no.
Kay | Feb 02, 2010

You should probably just go unless you have something better to do. On the other hand, either your into NASCAR or not…if your not into it he shouldn’t try to guilt you into going…that would make him the selfish one.
Tyrone | Feb 02, 2010

No, you’re not being selfish. You’re obviously just not interested, and that’s not being rude or anything. He’s just disappointed that he made plans that have been cancelled and no one else will go with him. He probably also thinks that it’s cool to have those tickets, so by you not wanting to go, he turns against you. Maybe you should go, though, because maybe you will have fun, and not everyone can go to that.
<3Keep Searching<3 | Feb 02, 2010

ya kinda. i mean its not ur fault his plans fell apart but he has an extra ticket and doesnt wanna go alone and it was really nice of him to ask u to go with first. hes ur brother. wud it kill u to be bored for a few days?
Sugardust99 | Feb 02, 2010

Grim Reaper | Feb 02, 2010

He’s right. You’re selfish, selfish, selfish. Tch, tch tch. Shamy finger.
Cajones | Feb 02, 2010

you’re not being selfish but you should still go, cause your brother wants/needs you to
caroline | Feb 02, 2010

No, not really. He’s being kinda selfish for not accepting the fact that you said no. I would go if my brother asked me, just for something to do and FL has some pretty ladies, and I’m not interested in NASCAR or the Space shuttle either. Daytona is only one day and the Space Shuttle launch is only one, eight other days you could do something you like man. Give it a shot, might end up liking something.
Josh W | Feb 02, 2010

If your brother dropped over dead 30 days from now, would you not feel that you had missed out on a chance to share a trip with him? Life is not for any of us to do only what we want to do but be considerate of others. Whether you like it or not, he is your brother and will always be so.

I would give anything to change places with you and go on a trip with my brother. My brother (Twin brother) died suddenly of a heart attack at an early age. Oh how I miss being able to do things with him.

The title of a song from The Lord of the Rings?
It plays when they are traveling across epic landscapes, mostly. The Nostalgia Critic used it in his Conan review when they were galloping on horseback. I think it was played in the beginning of The Two Towers, when Gimli, Legolas, and Aragorn are running after the hobbits. Anybody?
It’s like a march, like
bum buda bum bum-bum! (with low brass), then strings pulsing behind trumpets…
Yes, it is The Fellowship theme, but I’m looking for the theme in a specific song, and it’s much more upbeat and…bombastic than in the track The Fellowship.

From the TWO TOWERS soundtrack, its called "The Uruk Hai"

THIS IS THE ONLY 100% TRUE ANSWER!!!

ThatP | Jan 22, 2010

This page on the Wikipedia has a lot of detail about the scores of all three films, it might help you identify the track, I have some of the soundtracks, but without listening to them (I am at work at the moment) I can’t identify that specfic track…

The Wiki page might give you a start so you can search for the one you are after (it could be on youtube or somewhere). I would suggest you start with "The Fellowship of the Ring Theme" as that seems to be the most widely used according to the Wiki Page.

Zenobia | Jan 22, 2010

That’s the Fellowship Theme. Plays first quietly during the Council of Elrond, and then when the fellowship first leaves Rivendell. It plays many times after that, usually during a moment when members (not always all of them) of the fellowship gang together at epic moments. It’s a beautiful theme!
SeenZ | Jan 22, 2010

The best way to find that song is to go to Amazon.com and look up the soundtracks to the three movies, and listen to the clips provided for each song. Good luck!

Their 14-year-old daughter Dana is a sullen teenager, and Helen is so bored by the routine of her life that she’s on the verge of having an affair with used-car salesman Simon, who claims to be a spy. Harry is hot on the trail of a group of terrorists led by Salim Abu Aziz. Aziz and his men are smuggling nuclear weapons into the USA in pieces of Persian art, and Aziz plans to hold the country hostage in the name of the Crimson Jihad. Harry’s also out to save his marriage when he discovers Helen with Simon, who still claims to be a spy. Harry uses the Agency’s resources to give Helen a taste of the real thing. Harry blackmails Helen into seducing an enemy agent — Harry himself — in a hotel room, but their tryst is interrupted by Aziz’s men, who kidnap them and take them to one of the Florida Keys, where they’re preparing to detonate their nuclear bomb. Harry escapes and rescues Helen, and then they discover that Aziz has gone to Miami and kidnapped Dana. Harry uses a harrier jet to get to Miami, where he sets out to rescue Dana.

Is a Loquat Tree a Cross-Pollinating OR Self-Pollinating Fruit Tree?
Ex: Pear trees are self-pollinating.
Apple trees are cross-pollinating and need another apple tree in proximity in order to pollinate.

self-pollinating because they have perfect flowers
glenn t | Feb 02, 2010

Not all pears are self pollinating. But a Loquat is.
Charles C | Feb 02, 2010

glenn and Charles are both partially correct.
The loquat is normally pollinated by bees. Some cultivars are self-infertile and others are only partially self-fertile. Flowers of the early and late flushes tend to have abnormal stamens and very little viable pollen. Cross-pollination (as opposed to self-pollination) is thought to enhance fruit size.
Pucha Kunje | Feb 03, 2010

Loquat http://easybloom.com/plantlibrary/plant/ loquat CAN self-pollinate–ie, use it’s own pollen. However, bees cross-pollinating (carrying pollen from tree to tree) causes better fruiting.

Well, if you like Dan Brown, the sequel to the DaVinci Code just came out, "The Lost Symbol." It’s in hardcover, but most major bookstores are selling it at 40% off.

I would also recommend The Illuminatus! Trilogy by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson. They have similar themes and pacing to Dan Brown’s books, but seem a bit smarter.

Deception Point by Dan Brown

Digital Fortress: A Thriller by Dan Brown

Holy Blood, Holy Grail by Michael Baigent
ROJECT: A CONSPIR… by R DOUGLAS WEBER

The Davinci Code A Novel by Dan Brown

Secrets of Angels and Demons by Daniel Burstein

The Templar Revelation: Secret Guardians of the… by Lynn Picknett

Also, Stephen King books are great. Here are great ones:

1. The Gunslinger
2. Drawing of the Three
3. The Wastelands
4. Wizard and Glass
4. Wolves of Calla
6. Song of susannah
7. The Dark Tower.
One great story in seven novels
Read them in order or you will be lost.

Gerald’s Game(hilarious death of the husband)
Dolores Claiborne(somewhat connected to Geralds’ Game)
Nightmares and Dreamscapes
The Long Walk
Salems Lot
The Last stand
The Green Mile
Duma Key.

Try co-authors Douglas Preston and Lincoln Childs. They write a series about FBI Special Agent Teddy Pendergast. He certainly isn’t your usual detective. Relic was the first one that featured him.

Daniel Silva has two series that are good. One features Gabriel Allon, an art restorer who works for the Israeli government. His adventures take place in a variety of foreign cities. Look for Moscow Rules, The English Assassin, The Confessor, A Death in Venice, Prince Of Fire, The Messenger, The Secret Servant, The Defectors (his latest). The other character is Michael Osbourne, a FBI agent whose father-in-law is a retired U.S. Senator. He’s featured in The Mark of the Assassin and the Marching Season.

If you like medical mysteries that have an element of suspense to them, you might try Kathy Reichs. She’s much better than Patricia Cornwell. Her character, Temperance Brennan, is a forensic anthropologist who works in North Carolina and Montreal. Her books include Bones to Ashes, Monday Mourning (correct spelling), Break No Bones, Grave Secrets, Death du Jour, Fatal Voyage.

I’ve read all the ones I’ve mentioned and liked them all.

Fresh out of law school and full of hope for the future, Renny Jacobson is stunned by his father’s sudden death—and then by the terms of the will: the elder Jacobson has left the bulk of his estate to charity. When Renny encounters lovely Jo Johnston, meets the members of “The List,” and discovers the staggering value of his father’s mysterious bequest, his hope is resurrected. But why is Jo, to whom he is deeply attracted, so reluctant for him to claim his rightful share? Renny feels the supernatural power of the 140-year-old covenant—feels it and wants it for himself. But when his life and Jo’s begin to unravel, he is forced to face the truth about “The List.” And nothing short of a miracle will save them from its grasp.

Can someone please help me with these questions on "The man He Killed"???
"The Man He Killed "

"Had he and I but met
By some old ancient inn,
We should have sat us down to wet
Right many a nipperkin! 1. 1. half a pint of ale

"But ranged as infantry,
And staring face to face,
I shot at him and he at me,
And killed him in his place.

"I shot him dead because –
Because he was my foe,
Just so — my foe of course he was;
That’s clear enough; although

"He thought he’d ‘list perhaps, 2. 2. enlist
Off-hand like — just as I –
Was out of work — had sold his traps– 3. 3. traps for hunting
No other reason why.

"Yes; quaint and curious war is!
You shoot a fellow down
You’d treat if met where any bar is,
Or help to half-a-crown.4" 4. English coin

a. How does the poet’s use of dialect affect your understanding of the speaker and the subject of the poem?

b. Why do you think the poet chose to have his "speaker" talk in this manner?
An understatement is an ironic expression in which something of importance is emphasized by being spoken of as if it were not important.

a. What words does the speaker use to describe war at the beginning of the last stanza?

b. What do these words mean?

c. What makes this description of war an understatement?

I got all the other questions im just stuck on these couple!

Abilene Town
Abilene Town (1946)

IMDB rating: 6.50

Plot: In the years following the Civil War, the town of Abilene, Kansas is poised on the brink of an explosive confrontation. A line has been drawn down the center of the town where the homesteaders and the cattlemen have come to a very uneasy truce. The delicate peace is inadvertantly shattered when a group of new homesteaders lay down their stakes on the cattlemen’s side of town, upsetting the delicate balance that had existed thus far and sparking an all-out war between the farmers, who want the land tamed and property lines drawn, and the cowboys, who want the prairies to be open for their cattle to roam.

Directors: Marin Edwin L.

Actors: Scott Randolph,Buchanan Edgar,Bridges Lloyd,Freeman Howard,Hale Richard,Lambert Jack,Patterson Hank,Curtis Dick,Schenck Earl,Waller Eddy,Baldwin Walter,Brinegar Paul,Romance,Western,

why were towns in the west often violent and lawless places?
i need to include:
geographical reasons

Rapid population growth in the west

different types of law officers use in the west

new crimes

the railroads

stagecoaches

cow towns like abilene

immigrants from europe, mexico, china and newly freed black slaves

Geography: Most of the folks in the west were a long, long way from home and any semblance of anything they were conditioned to think of as "order." The ones who were at home were watching their homes change at an alarming rate by folks who did not even care to learn the local languages, much less local customs.

Rapid population growth: The most diverse populations in the history of the world were gathering and clashing on a regular basis. Again, language and culture were a frequent barriers.

Types of law officers: Typically there were none. The best most towns could hope for was to hire a criminal to keep his friends away. Didn’t work too well.

New crimes: Back to the geography and rapid population growth. In unprecedented situations with legal sources to get help from, one must find unprecedented solutions.

Railroads and stage coaches were often the most vulnerable sources of wealth available. In addition, there was considerable opposition to the invasion both represented. Cow towns like Abilene and Fort Worth were a direct legacy of them.

In this phase of history, there were more refugees fleeing into Mexico than from Mexico. Immigrants from Mexico had a negligible influence. Spain (European) was the bigger problem in some cases, but the Spanish Empire was already losing its toehold in North America. The European immigrants were still highly divided by the same racial divisions that are still erupting in Europe to this day. Their chaotic whole, historically and erroneously known by their shared skin color, constituted the vast majority of the changing face of the Americas. Within those logistics, the Asians and newly freed black slaves were simply too different to be assimilated.
